Hello from Dept 29

Hi, I've just registered and I'm really looking forward to having some new friends to chat to.

Been a bit stressed and felt a bit lonely for the past 18 months. Had a huge fire Jan '09 in which I lost all my tack and feed in less than 2 hours but did manage to get a mare and foal out in time. And then my Mum passed away suddenly last june. Nearly threw in the towel after all that but am still here with my beautiful New Forest ponies and am now feeling more positive and ready to enjoy life again, despite this weather!

It would be great to have some genuinely 'horsey' people to chat to as I lived my whole life in the New Forest and only realised when we moved here how spoilt I was!!!

Sorry to hear your troubles,but I'm sure spring is on the way and that always makes you feel better. I also have 2 New Forest & before we moved here in 2008 we had lived in the forest for 20 years. Both my foresters are forest bred & I do miss the shows & ofcourse the riding. But here we do have alot of green lanes so it's not too bad. Maybe we know the same forest people?

Vicky, I was in the Forest for over 15 years so we probably do! Do you know Nikki who moved down to Limoges? Known her for a long time, just wish we weren't so far away from eachother!

I have 9 foresters here, most are forest bred. My family's prefix is Longmead, my auntie (sadly gone now)and uncle live over in Burley. My pride and joy is my 3 year old colt, Peveril PeterboroughxLongmead Royal Topsy, he was bred by Sabine down in Dorset. The mares mother won the Pinkney Cup in 1993 and 1994. I am hoping to get him licensed over here but I won't be backing him until next year, don't like rushing my NF's!!

My ponies prefixes are:

2 x Longmead
2 x Buckland
Furzey Lodge
Beacon
Oke Dene
Brockenhurst
Sabina's

So, quite a broad spectrum really.

What do you have breeding wise? Do you compete them over here? I'm really behind with everything as I did think that I was going to have to move back to the UK to be with my Dad last year so just trying to get organised now, never my strong point though!!

Hi,

thanks for asking after me, just enjoying being outside as much as possible at the moment. So I've not been on the internet very much over the last couple of weeks. Just trying to wean myself off of sitting on the computer for hours as I have so much winter coat still coming out of the ponies!! I'm only letting myself turn the computer on after 9pm now as the weather is sooo lovely!
