| Dear member
It is estimated that there are at least 70,000 people living with Dystonia* in the UK. One of these people is, fellow horse lover and good friend, Diane Allen.
Diane suffers so much but does so with incredible bravery and good humour. It is after seeing one of her videos where she had lost control of her legs that I decided to put mine to good use and run a half marathon to raise money for [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

In addition, Diane's 16 year old daughter, Charlie is organising a 500km sponsored horse ride from Sangatte to the Mont Saint Michel, in France, to raise money for the International Dystonia Foundation.
Charlie is looking for riders to accompany her on all or part of her sponsored ride:

I would be eternally grateful if you could donate and/or spread the word about our activities and give something back to Diane who has given so much
Thank you

| Come on guy's, like the lady said chance to have some fun and do something for a good cause at the same time. Just had a message from the girl organising and she thought she was chasing rainbows as she has had little response. If you cant ride then offer a field, some refreshment for horse and rider or a donation. There are many ways to be part of this event. | Sorry but I support animal charities. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Animals are always dependand on humans whatever treatment they receive, good or bad, but humans can usually get by somehow or other. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| i support any who genuinely need help if i can, with some reservations, i wouldn't do some political based events for example. humans are animals too & when illness strikes they need the help of the other human animals, as i did recently (thank you lynn) but this lady who has been diagnosed with this disease has already been active in a horse based welfare association & now she needs the help of other horse lovers & all they are asking us to do really is what we like to do anyway to help raise funds? to those who ride & who are lucky enough to have something to ride & the time to ride it, i say why not? if i could i would, & the lady diagnosed probably wishes she still could too. something like this or an accident could put anyone of us out of the saddle for good & we all know it, so come on take the time & trouble because if it was you or your friend wouldn't you want someone to do it for you? i am going to ask her if there is anything else i can do since i can't do the ride bit, i am always up for a charity in any way & i have offered to help both the red cross & a couple of animal charities since i came to normandy. bye [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| salee, who is the money being raised for exactly please? I can only find Dystonia, Medical Research Foundation which is in america, I see that caroline is running for The Dystonia Society in Uk, The facebook link says raising money for "International Dystonia Foundation" which I can't find, if you could clarify this I'm sure it may help the cause.

| i myself don't 'do' face book but for those who do try looking at this link- maybe it can tell you more than i could? [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]the moderators of this forum decided to edit a few bits out of the original post, so i am not sure what i can put back in as far as info goes so i suggest it is best to follow the links & get the info as we used to say 'straight from the horses ( or in this case horse riders) mouth' bye [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| I'm sorry to be a bore The Dystonia Society is the charity which caroline is running for as you say Bob, that is the charity in your link. However when one goes onto facebook, it says raising money for "International Dystonia Foundation" which I can't find. As moderator I feel responsible in these cases to get the all the facts for our members pen | |

| Thanks Bob, forgive my suspicious mind but there are a lot of "Non genuine" humans out there who wouldn't think twice about taking advantage of kind hearts. Good Luck. pen | |

| I believe its still in the organization stage, as you can imagine there are some heavy logistics to organise, overnight stabling, back up veh, food etc so I dont expect a date till next year.. | |
