PostSubject: Loosing a dear friend   Loosing a dear friend EmptySun Mar 18, 2012 11:03 am

Sad It's been a difficult week, but I feel now its time to share my sadness with Galloping free friends. Chrissy, who some of you will know, had to make the very sad, and difficult decision to let her very dear friend and wonderful horse Lloyd put to sleep. I have only had the privilege of a couple of years to know and appreciate this special horse. Chris has been the best owner a horse could have, nursing Lloyd through many difficult times. To Reve and I he was the perfect schoolmaster, with whom we had many wonderful and safe !! rides. He was at home and with the people he loved. Thankyou Lloyd for being the best. I love you May all the grass be very sweet. Sara and Reve xx

Thinking of you Chrissie Loosing a dear friend 470519

Been there too, its the hardest, most selfless, and bravest decision ever...

and so so difficult, BUT you know you did the right thing..

I didn't know Lloyd but he sounds like a really special horse, you must feel privileged to have shared his life.

Crying or Very sad Lloyd was a perfect gent. "Don't shed a tear that he is gone, smile because he has lived."

been there myself too often, it never gets easier either, i still miss Saltie like hell.

i had to have my almost 16y old GSD bitch PTS this morning,

i found her collapsed when we got up to take the kids to school, so school was cancelled and we went the vet ASAP but the outcome was either let her die naturally but suffer or PTS so it was a clear choice.

only on monday she was out in the field with me and the other dogs & goatling carol all afternoon while i poo raked, happily flopped out in different places during the afternoon watching the young dogs & carol run about & now & then they all kept coming back to us to see if we two old farts were ok Loosing a dear friend 470519 tuesday she slept a lot but today it was obvious something was amiss.

we knew it was coming, she had blood tests done last year which showed her liver, kidneys etc were less than 100% efficient & that she was going into decline but even when its expected........

at almost 16y she has been part of my kids life for as long as they can remember, they wanted to come say goodby to her, & they dug her grave in a quiet corner where we will later make a rockery so she is not disturbed, the scene in harry potter with dobby kept springing to mind, silly how things like that happen at the oddest moment.
bye

I'm sorry to hear about your GSD. We all have a common love for all creatures great and small, dogs, cats, horses, I even cried when my son's guinea pig died.!!! Sunday was mother's day in England, mother in law got a moonpig card, but I always have to put fresh spring flowers on the special place we put to rest our beloved jack russell Pippa (18 years old) and for my mum, who passed away 12 years ago, because I can't get back to England. It makes me feel better. I love you
