Well, we eventually made it to France in August. Decided to rent an apertment from a friend of ours but it was in the Alps. Anyway set off and your roads are great. Couldnt beleive so little traffic. Arrived after about 7 hours in a place which was beautiful but certainly not horse country. Anyway had about 10 days of lovely weather and pure clean air. Unfortunately our friend did not tell us that the village closed at the end of August and so did everwhere nearby. Decised to go and dump ourselves on my brother and sister in law in the Dordogne. Loved it there but still a bit hilly and they were just recovering from a heatwave (50'). Anyway my brother has his place for sale as although he loves it in Tourtoirac, he is now nearly 70 years old and finding it a bit much to drive to England to see his grandchildren. He is looking for something a bit further North and so are we. Anyway we didnt visit Normandy, Loire or Brittany but have decided thats where we will look at next.
If anyone wants to buy or exchange somewhere for a house in Tourtoirac my brother has his for sale. It doesnt have any land but is a lovely detached house, fully refurbished and is asking 220000 euros for it or would exchange or part exchange. I just want one with land. Anyway at least we found out where we didnt want to live. Loved France, especially the cakes, chocolates, wine, wine, wine and more wine. Even saw some comtois.
