NO Flies on us ! - what works for your GG ?

Having been plagued by flies recently on hacks I thought I'd post details of the latest concoction I sprayed on Mandoline



Emouchine - FORTE -( bought at decathlon ) mixed 50/50 with vinaiger



Have to say it it worked at least for the length of the ride , will update when I know how long it seems to last

no, clip clop for me every time! Love that sound!

Emouchine definately. Discovered it a couple years ago, wonderful stuff. It's also good when applied around the top of the tail to help against Sweet Itch. Don't apply if area sore though.



Also Avon So Soft, always keep one of these in each grooming kit and finish off a groom with a spray including the lower tail to help swoosh those files.

yes I've had emouchine before , one like a black sticky tar stuff that smells horrendous (the farrier recommended it) and one in a yellow gel form which smelt much nicer, both were Emouchine even though completely different!

Pen has since converted me to Coopers!

Yes, Emouchine certainly does whiff.

I've never tried Coopers, I'll keep a look out for it, is it in the Point Vert stores?

Another vote for Coopers from me too, although only really use when riding, the rest of the time horses just have fly masks on & go in the field shelter, as can get expensive when you've got several! Coopers is also used to treat lice, which is handy. Don't think you can buy it over here, I get mine from the UK.

Do you find that the emouchine stains on lighter coloured horses? I know it washes off eventually. Good stuff, just makes mine look like zebras.

Good point , yes it would look rather horrible on greys as its a brown tar type of stuff and sticky too

You could always use Emouchine on greys with your stencils for quartermarks. Chocolate brown would make a change from those pink/lilac/blue etc sprays which are available, and useful against filies too!

I get enough "brown marks" on my grey without putting anymore on thank you
