It depends really how much of the work you intend to do yourself. We have a school of that size and had it resurfaced last year with the basic sand from the normandy bay that they use (sorry, can't remember the correct name). We cleared the original surface ourselves with hired machinery. We then used local contractors for the rest and it cost 10,000 euros to have the drainage channels cleared, new membrane, 12inches of hardcore and 8inches of sand. This was the cheapest quote we had and we had to do alot of haggling to get it down from 12,000 euros, the most expensive was 25,000 euros. It's a very big area to do, we had 8 lorries of hardcore and 6 of sand. It took them 3 weeks to do it. Hope that helps.

Lottie, are you talking about Tangue Sable from Mont Saint Michel?I've seen it on somebody's arena and it was brilliant. Not sure how much it is though but I got the impression that it was not that expensive.

Hi Rosemary, yes that's the stuff! No it's not that expensive but when you're covering 3 times the size of a normal arena it gets a bit more pricey [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] . I'll have to check with OH too but I think it was the hardcore that was the most expensive bit of the whole job as we had it quite deep to sort the drainage problem we suffered from because it gets sooooo wet where we are.

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Our surface is only 25 x 30 metres, it cost 500 euro to cut the flat out of a hill, we didn't need drainage because we cut so deeply into the sub strata,we let it settle then for 5 months, we bought geotex membrane from uk £500 delivered(we sold what we didn't use for 140 euro) It was 1,100 euro for sand and about 200 euro for boards. we did everything except the initial digging out so in total with sundries it came in at around 2,200 euro...... Bargain [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Pen _________________ and I whispered to the horse, "trust no man in whose eyes you don't see yourself reflected as an equal"- Don Vincenzo Giobbe (circa 1700)

Thank you [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] The ground is quite dry so i don't think it should need to much drainage putting in. Would be willing to hire a digger and dig it all out. Does anyone know of any people around Saint Lo area that do them so can get some quotes [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] .
