How exciting. I will have to come and see how she does too Very Happy

I thought I would be nervous about getting on but no felt very happy, it might change if he farts around another time Laughing

We got our results for the ID today and we came fourth out of five cheers cheers cheers I really thought we would be last and the girl we beat was all togged up too, it will be intresting to see our comments page

I have been having great fun with the boys over the last couple of nights, I was given a huge Pringles poncho so I took it up to the field and put it on, Brett went "oh you smell differant" and gave it a good sniff and lick then asked for a bum scratch [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] so I did all sorts of things and ended up trying to do my best small child impersonation [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] which involed waving my arms like windmills and either skipping or stamping in pretend mud [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] really hope nobody saw me [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Brett just stood and looked and asked for another bum scratch [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] then went to find Teepy who had "gone" it took a while but I finally got him to stand by as I did shook and waved the poncho and then put it on, I didn't push it with the "Small child stuff"
I did some more pringle work with the boys, the giant hand caught them
both on the hop, Brett was soon fine but Teepy needs a load more work, got to teach old dogs new tricks.

My out fit Laughing Laughing Laughing

enough to give most horses the hebees jebees

We got our comments and boy where they nice, Bretty is of the right build and weight for his breed, moves right for his breed just needs to be a bit willing in the trott work ( no surpise there) and our turn out was tidy and workman like, 9 out of 10, god I love that judge Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy not just that she didn't insist on a showing jacket but actually knew what a Breton should look like

He's coming home

I'm going up on Monday for another ride to make sure we are fine together, cue heavy rain and strong winds forecast Mad then he will be back, I have asked for after Thursday so we can get the bank holiday out of the way first, they it will be time to put my big girl pants on and start riding him geek, I will make a school area up in the field to start with then we will just have to go for it, so far I haven't found anybody to ride with and there haven't any takers on riding Bretty, although I'm not too sure about taking a youngster out with a spooky horse is a good idea any way

Exciment and very nervous, going to have to get on and do it.

Had a fair bit of exciment yesterday too we moved the boys to the barn field as
the farmer has refused to cut for hay, the boys are going to eat it,
plus when Moss comes home I have a flat area I can school in, we decided
to move them early as we had guests arriving this evening, and as it
was so quiet this morning we thought we would go through the village,
all well to start, round the church, past the pubs then under the first
set of bunting, a little bouncy walking on the hollow pavement, tried
not to walk on the cracks [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
then loads of cars and trailers again good then just as we leave the
village we go into full dressage mode and I know if it had been filmed
we would have won a dressage test on ID, loads of upwould inpulsion and
self carraige by the buckets loads [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
then as cars started to follow us it got a bit outer hand so I got off
and I really couldn't work out why we where still doing some fab jogging
and spinning we had cars mounting the pavement and turning their
engines off! finally got to the school car park and just as we turned in
twenty bright orange cyclistes appeared [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
so we stood for a bit then went on and he slowy got back to normal and
I got back on, on driving back I notice two other lenghts of bunting
both where he had really kicked off, so flappy plastic at head hight is
fine but not above head [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] more worked need, just got to work out how I can make and fix my own bunting for him.

Then in the afternoon I moved all the poles and rolled up all the tape from
two big fields so Cliff could top them as the owners where saying that
they where looking untidy, cliff got about 3/4 done so if it's dry
Tuesday I can rebuild them

So wish me luck for today, I will hope update tonight

I keep meaning to add the trainer reckon the Moss is 163 so that 16 - 16.1hh thats much more like it Very Happy

Well I'm still here [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Actually
it went well although it totally pee'd down as we drove up, but by the
time Moss was tacked up it had almost stopped, it was just me to ride,
Fredrick even made sure I had brought my hat [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Moss was looking really big today I'm not too sure about 16 hh more like 17hh today [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I
got on and rode up to the school and we did some wallking and trotting
and I got to find what Fredrick meant on the strong contact and the legs
on at all times, its more like A contact at all times as if there isn't
he either drops his head right down or does his Roulkur impersonation
and it both instants has been know to put a hop or buck in [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
especially at the trott or canter, they have a young girl who rides
for them (she only looks about 12!) and she rode Moss last week and
while cantering him let him put his head down and she was straight out
the side door, thankfully they only told me this after I had finished,
if you put your legs on he strides out and lifts his head, so I haven't
got to hang for dear life just not relax too much. After schooling it
was are you ready for a hack out? I couldn't see another horse, so you
mean on my own? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] well sort of [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
so it was trott up the road till you come to a track on the left stop
turn around and walk back, ok we did that, then it was walk down the
road turn left in to the lane, trott for about 50 m and then turn around
trot back then canter back up the road, you mean canter up on the
verge? no canter on the road the verge has a ditch, ooooooooook [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
we did it and it was then do that again he has to canter past the gate
so he doesn't nap at the gate, so we do it again, properly this time [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
then it was a bit more in school to chill before going back to the
stable, we did stand for a bit and he is a figet and keeps trying to
drop his head or back up but a light tap on the shoulder stops that.
He comes home either Thursday or Friday

Some pics from today,
in
the school, you can see where he has been rubbing himself, he will be
back on the pills when he comes home plus they haven't used any of the
midge spray or cream that I sent with him [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Doing our Roulkur impersonation going up the road

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Cantering up the road and no I will not be doing anymore of that

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I love the pictures! Crikey, Mossy looks so tall!

Sounds like he has a mischievous streak like our Rhubarb. You are going to have such fun bringing him on now he's backed. Best of luck to you both.

Keep those updates coming

Ah yes, "charactere" as they call it in the French horsey small ads. Suspect

We Cob Normand owners love a bit of character, don't we Maycloud? It adds a little bit of excitment to be reminded, once in a while, that the huge powerful beastie has a mind of his/her own. affraid lol!

Bill I have to say that Bretons have a lot of "Charactere" too so I think Roo could have a double lot lol! lol! I'm hopeing that Moss doesn't have too much, but really wanted fearless as Brett is afriad of everything Rolling Eyes but if Moss listerns to me that would be perfect, have to say he was pretty good when we did our long reining walks.

Lula I was very nervous when I first got on but after a couple of mins I felt fine, well that was till it was "and canter up towards us" I haven't cantered for over a year:shock: Shocked You too will be fine when you get on and I will be there to film it for you Laughing Laughing

Moss came home on friday afternoon, it was too hot for Brett & Teep to come and say hello Shocked so I put Moss in his bit and left them to to it, by the time I went back the boys where all chatting across the fence, I brought them all in and while they where eating I washed
Moss's mane and tail in anti-itch stuff to see if it will help, plus
he's on his pills again, he was straight into the scratching rather than
eating tonight, mind you he is back to vits and chaff rather than
soaked barley and oats. after tea I put Brett and Moss in together, they
had a little "play" then had a nice groom, Teepy seemed ok being back
on his own but I will try them all together in a day or so. Teepy has a
small paddock and access to the barn the other two a big paddock and
some trees I don't think the barn could take Moss's rubbing at the
moment.

Any way there was NO NIPPING last night at least [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The just haveing Teepy in the barn didn't work, Brett was desperate to get in this morning, so I put Teepy in the stable and let the other two in to the barn, a great sucess, I hung around for a bit bit Moss was fairly restrained in the scratching and wasn't trying to take the barn down, so they all spend the day there

And tonight
We did it [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I got on him [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Just did some stuff in the school, he was pretty good, much more relaxed but them it had been a hot day and he was home, I put the two reins on and took the bottom part of the nose band off, he never once over bent and just kept his head relaxed, he did some nice stops and stands and we had a few trotts, very pleased with him, next time I shall take him out for
a bit and see the differance [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Then I thought better get some vid for the Chaps [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] so here it is

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I left the start on as I'm very pleased with it, only our third time on
riding to do that plus we almost had to do the totf type stuff to get
there [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

And tonight we did it, we went out on a mini hack [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

We
did a bit of school stuff first, walk trott stops and I had put the
barrels back in the school so we did weaving in and out of those, then
it was deep breath and out, I had forgot my phone so we have to walk to
the car and back, all was well, I got tacked up in turtle suit and flash
jacket then how to get on [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
my step up is in the school, there is a handy bank I get Moss to stand
by the side then just as I'm about to get on he does a Brett and side
steps out one pace [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] so I treat him as Brett and just clamber on [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
and he didn't worry at all, we set off a very little bouncy but I kept
the reins loose and squeesed on and he was fine, we only went about 10
mins down the road but we did have a little trott for about 100 meters
and he was great hardly any contact needed we got to the juction and
turned back and he was great didn't try to trott or bolt or any thing we
just walked nicely, when we got to the field we walked past the field
gate and down to the neighbours and had a quick word with them he did
get a bit fiegity then, after we turned and came back and into the field
and home for tea, very pleased with him tonight.
Again he didn't
over bend and stood nicley apart from when I was talking to the
neighbours, I also lowered his bit one hole any way so far he seems very
happy

I'm going to have to get one of those saddle saver padds though I have got too used to Brett's cushion saddle [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Tonights view, on our way home
