**Horseball St. Lo ** - 6th-7th March 2010

Hi, I will hopefully be able to get in to St.Lo for Horseball next saturday and sunday[13th,14th Feb]at the Haras. Is anyone else going?

I can make it one of the days I've meant to go and watch for some time Do you know the best time to be there Pen ?

I always go in the afternoon, I think I heard it's the lesser teams in the mornings...sunday afternoon is the finals, but it can get quite crowded. We could maybe meet up there with a few other "Gallopingfree" members and put a face to the names. PS. It's not expensive to get in 3euro last year.

What exactly is horse ball?

Heres a video of horseball , to me it looks like basket ball on horseback and clearly I would need a shetland pony

Certainly looks like you need to be flexible

I'm not too keen me, there's quite a few accidents with the horses, they usually
have a spare horse waiting for them if there's an accident

I don't know if I will be allowed as I am dragging out hubby really early on Sunday to go jumping.

It is a contact sport so I guess there may well be injury's, fortunately in the past 4 years that I have been I've only ever seen one horse hurt, a shoulder injury[impact] and one rider stretchered off. I would certainly be in hospital for a month if I tried to reach down for a ball like that!

Unfortunately, this week end we are going to England so unable to come this time but it would be lovely to meet up with you all.

We have a small group forming for Saturday afternoon

I'm not sure the horseball is going ahead given the weather probably so I shall phone up in the morning to find out

That would be great if you could post if it's been cancelled or not, I'm hoping it will rain or warm up , so if it is still on I'll be able to get up my drive and get there

I've just phoned the number on the st lo events list and the lady there has said it has been cancelled because of the weather and lorries coming from far afield

It is however re - sceduled for the 6th - 7th March

Hopefully we can reschedule too for then

Oh how typical! I wasn't sure about going this time as Rosemary was going to the U.K. and we would have gone together and now they have postponed it to that date and I will be in Louisiana!
How often are they held at St.Lo?

Unfortunately it's once a year, the competition, but they do practice most weekends [not quite the same]
