Hi, There seems to be 2 sizes for the plastic electric posts, 3ft & 4ft. I think I would prefer the 3ft but are they too small in anyone's experience?

Smile I always use the 3' rather than the taller ones. I think the taller ones get bendy after a while and don't seem so rigid, never had problems keeping anyone in/apart with the short ones as long as the electric is on!

I have to use the tall ones, with two rows of tape, low enough to stop titch going under and high enough to stop him and ibis going over Evil or Very Mad

It's funny but the biggest one of my three has the lowest fence confused . Roo, at 17hh has the 3ft posts and sometimes the top rope is hanging low enough that she could step over it, if she dared.

Bluey, when in season, sometimes gets the devil in her and will walk through whatever height lecky fence you put up. however, most of the time she's good and 3ft with 2 strands will do the trick.

I don't know Buster that well yet and, knowing he can jump pretty good, I'm taking no chances; 4ft 6in posts with four ropes. His paddock is like Colditz!

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] with Georgie that the tall posts are a bendy pain in the neck, especially on corners where the weight of the polyrope pulls them over. It would be nice to have some of the stiff fibreglass ones for the corners.

Bill.

I use metal h shaped poles about 1.3 meter or 4 foot, then two strands of tape, only the top is live, this keeps all three in although Mossy is very good at takeing the bottom tape if he is annoyed at something Rolling Eyes I do worry sometimes as it look like the tape is not even to the top of his leg but so far and touching wood here he has stayed in, Brett when he was young just walked through the lot what ever the height and power affraid he is more sensiable now Laughing

i have used all sorts of fence, before chance learned to push over electric we had about 3 strands; low for gingi the shet & the goats, mid same & gerry & high for the horses,

but now chance has learned that if he can stand the jolt a few secconds electric tape gives we have post & rail with a raised thinner stick with a top zap wire mid windpipe height & 3 more strands running inside the fence in the gaps between the rails,so a total f 4 electric strands at 10k volts plus post & rail plus in some places wire mesh & hedge behind it

i have found his chest is less sensitive than the throat/windpipe area to electric fence, he wont push on it if it is higher up & so it stops him -so fqr - breaking any more top wooden rails,

colditz? between an escape artist horses, dogs & the goats i could probably have given the commandant some tips!

& all this while there is still grass on the field....cant wait for winter! Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
