Having gone to a car boot at the week-end and finding a load of tack for a very silly low price. ( Well I think it was) Cool I am now arm deep in tack that needs to be made supple again. I only wanted a couple of items, but was offered the whole lot for the price I had offered for a full bridle, good english leather, and a leather full head collier. I have 3 full bridles that are brand new, still in bags, but are quite stiff dispite saddle soap and a good soaking in leather conditioner. They are of good quaility, english leather. Any tip's greatfully recieved. cheers

I go along with the oil Cool I'd strip the bridle and keep brushing the oil on till it stops soaking in, I'd then put the bridle in a plastic bag, seal it and put it in a warm place... we used to put it in the airing cupboard but sadly they don't seem to have them in france Rolling Eyes once you are happy it's softening use glycerin soap several times keeping your sponge as dry as possible. It's always worked for me, so fingers crossed you can bring your bargains back to life. Smile
I have been told that one should never soak leather in oil, as in, pour oil all over and leave it soaking in it, just incase you were tempted. Shocked
let us know how you get on, you lucky thing.

Thanks for the advice I let you know how I do. I got 4 full and 3 pony bridles with reins and bit's. 1 full leather head collier 3 panic type lead rope's, a full martingale leather and sheepskin, 2 set's of stirup leather's all for a kiss on the cheek and 30 euro's. Not bad Laughing
I only wanted a couple of things so I hope to sell the others on at our bring and buy in September for the H.O.O.F group.

Tack looks and feel's wonderful. I was going to sell some on, but now I will keep it as I may just be needing some of it for my two new lady's. Counting down the hours [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
My farrier is doing the transport, he has a large horse-box (could be a mistake as it carry's up-to 6 [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] . lol!
I was just thinking that some times things happen for a reason, ie. the reason I bought all the tack was fate.

We have to be there for 12.00 on Monday, carnt wait. The mare I am getting is 20 not in top condition, so will be glad to get her home so I can start to bring her back to her former glory. She had a foal 10 months ago, and has been out in a paddock with a very doninant mare since foalie was weaned, about 2 months ago. She is well down the pecking order, she gets on well with the 18 year old that my husband has bonded with so hope all will be well with them. I have an acre and a half right near the house, which I have spent the last view days tape and posting, but the ground is so hard had to use a lump hammer to drive in a spike then the posts. Will post piccys as soon as I can.
Sue.

Not long to wait now [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] We were making new holes for the post spikes with a stronger spike and mallet, but the concussion( the ground is like cement) has hurt OH's shoulder so now we drill into the ground......... much easier, I can even do it Rolling Eyes Thankgoodness for cordless drills.

Hope all goes well tomorrow, let us know how you got on when you have time. Smile
